We All Scream for Ice Cream!

We All Scream for Ice Cream!

I have to say, I think I could live on ice cream alone!  I will never pass up an ice cream cone, and it’s one of my favorite treats.  Most sweets can’t go wrong in my book, but ice cream holds a special place in my heart.

My family’s new obsession is making ice cream at home!  Yes, homemade ice cream without an ice cream maker, without rock salt to freeze (am I dating myself here? LOL).  Simple ingredients I almost always have in the fridge, and some freeze time, and bam– fresh, homemade ice cream.

I know we are all looking down the barrel of the end of the summer, but there’s still time to enjoy summer treats, like homemade ice cream.

I thought I would share the recipe we are making every couple of days, and give you some of our favorite flavors to add to the recipe to make an ice cream flavor for everyone!

Homemade ice cream:

2 Tbsp Cream Cheese (soft)

2 Tbsp Sweetened Condensed Milk

2 Tbsp Brown Sugar

1 tsp Vanilla

¼ tsp salt

¾ cup Heavy Cream

3-4 tbsp of your flavoring or mix ins

Cream all the ingredients together (without adding in the mix ins) until creamy with electric mixer.  Fold in mix ins.  Pour into a pint mason jar and place in the freezer. Freezes to ice cream consistency in 4-6 hours.

*If adding nut butter, can omit cream cheese or condensed milk.

Flavor suggestions:

Peanut butter, cookie butter (with cookie chunks), cookie dough chunks (we used frozen nuggets by Ben & Jerry’s), favorite cookie chunks, dessert liquor (we made a variety with peanut butter whiskey!), fruit of all varieties: strawberry, peach, berries, pineapple & coconut

You get the idea, try this simple recipe and mix in your favorite flavors for a treat any time!

Enjoy!
